Independence day 2013
Nigerian undergraduates, yesterday through social medias like facebook and twitter, murdered the Nigerian government with mass criticism. Here are some updates from the facebook walls of our students on 1st Oct. 2013; ***Nigerians, What are celebrating today? (A) 3 months of ASUU strike. (B) 4 years of Boko haram attacks. (C) 53 years of bad governance and embezzlement of national funds. (D) All of the above! **** ***For over 20 years now I’ve lived with her and the reason she celebrates her ‘freedom’ surprises me still. For over 20 years now I’ve watched her daughters run to Brazil and India for longer hair, I’ve watched her young men run to Malaysia to sell kidneys. Her youths are scattered abroad (Ghana Inclusive), paying outrageous sums for good, quality and fair education. She runs to China every time she needs a ‘basic’ technological solution to her problems like bridges, railways, roads, launching of satellites, including the grand and ultra-complicated need of making match sticks and toothpicks. I’ve seen her invite foreign countries to help figure out her economic and security challenges. Her cars and driving style are the American system, her judiciary is the British system, her legislature – American in style and nomenclature but ‘Zimbabwean’ in truth, her education British. I’ve seen her law makers run to Germany, India and d US whenever they have a headache, and the rest of its country men are advised to seek medical help outside the country whenever their ‘typhoid’ gets out of hand. She has just sent a bunch of youths on flight training to Germany, and soon more will proceed to the UK. The other time she was to conduct an election she printed ballot papers in South Africa, leaving me with the uphill task of ransacking my busy brain in the bid to figure out where her politicians print their campaign posters. I’ve seen her pious and sanctimonious citizens visit Isreal, Mecca, Rome and all the temples in India simply for religious and spiritual gratification, as if to say their ‘God’ cannot be found at home. She even made a national program out of it. I’ve watched her ship precious raw crude abroad daily, only to buy back a portion of it in foreign currency. It’s like selling you the mixed fruit juice and buying back the orange juice constituent of it in foreign currency. I’ve watched her borrow and borrow, beg and beg, ask and ask for financial aid and basic help when she has never suffered a major natural disaster. With all that land and good weather, she seldom can plant enough meal for herself, let alone cook it. Every other time she’s importing what she has, and selling out almost nothing. She always needs services, but her services are never needed. She thus is not independent as she claims, So to her my friends I say HAPPY DEPENDENCE DAY Dear, for on this day 53 years ago her dependence merely changed forms! *** ***I admire people's love for Nigeria. It's touching. I love it as well but I gave up when the fish in Titus "Sardines" reduced to two."*** ***The only thing October 1 reminds me of is the hopeless and continuously worsening situation of my country everyday. you say we are independent, i ask "independent of whom or what exactly."*** ***Fifty three years A̶̲̥̅̊₪d̶̲̥̅̊ asuu strike is ninet y days after flag independ ence, the rich country is in pains. Its oil is both a blessing and curse. The natural resource is domicoied in a region. the citizens a̶̲̥̅rε̲̣̣ struggling with poverty. Life is bcumin xpensive Nigeria. Basic amenities, including portable water, electricity, medical facilities, and roads, are in pitiable state of disrepair. The only prosperous people are those in government, who av access τ̅O̶̲̥̅̊ our resources. Many youths entertain much fear about their future bcos dea is high rate of unemployment in d country A̶̲̥̅̊₪d̶̲̥̅̊ d Universities av been on strike 4 nw 4 90 days without solution, our economic is going down everyday can we say we a̶̲̥̅rε̲̣̣ independent or we a̶̲̥̅rε̲̣̣ still dependent?*** ***Hapi new month peepz,independ...wot...boko haram abi na ASUU strike wich 1?*** ***Breaking news;Today Nigeria is celebrating 53yrs of her Independent and 3months of ASUU Strike, wot a double celebration. I will like to congratulate d president of dis country 4 such a breaking record. Bt is a pity dat, after 53yrs of gotten our independent,we are still in a slavery of ASUU strike, corruption, injustice etc. Excuse me frds! Wen wil Nigeria get her independent from dose area???*** I wish our leaders can see for themselves that Nigerian students are not happy at all. It's been 93 days and FG has not been able to reach an agreement with ASUU. My question is, is there still hope for our nation? Because right now that's the only thing we are holding on to, a mere question. I call it 'The quest of hope'.
